Power. Fame. Money. Booze. Sex. Mating rituals. And privileges. And lots of female employees to select from. David Letterman was the king of the Late Night TV. It appears that for most of his bachelor life, David Letterman always had his pick. Negotiating his $ multi-million contract with CBS was part of the game. He also had a secret game with the ladies on his payroll. Based on his recent revelations in a Late Show taping and broadcast, he was also quite a negotiator when it comes to having long-term relationships with his staffers. He was the ladies' man. He was getting laid left and right. Did the women come to him because he was the rich funny man? Or did he end up being with most of them because they were competing for his attention and a high paycheck? David Letterman may know a few things about women who leave their home to return to the workforce. He has insider knowledge about what they have to put up with. We must quickly admit that not all women are like those David bedded. They would not sell themselves for promotion and fat checks! And David was not thinking about ethical and professional issues during these late night limo drives to fancy hotels. Money was never the problem. He could wine and dine with these women at the swanky New York restaurants and joints.

The 34-year-old was not thinking about her beau, Robert Joe Halderman ever finding out about her secret liaisons with the married man and father of one. She kept telling him that she is David's best friend and that they have a platonic relationship. One can imagine that since the discovery of her girlfriend's diary, Joe was giving hints to Dave. He found out that Stephanie was still sleeping with Dave while she was living with in Connecticut. For months, he must have been furious. Why would Mss. Birkitt want to journal or maintain a diary about something like that? Was she asking to get caught and leave Halderman? Now she must have found a good reason to do so. She may not want to see Joe any longer. Whereas for Joe, blackmailing David was his last move to get the married co-worker to stop seeing his gal. Well, Joe may not have been ready to get outsmarted by Dave as the latter contacted the authorities about a $3 million case of extortion. What would happen if Halderman did not take the check from Letterman? He would have outed his affair with his girlfriend without having the authorities in his hair now. It is all about money and power in the end. And since Dave had a huge audience. He got on the airwaves first. We may not know both sides of the story yet. At the same time, Letterman's forced revelations became fodder for many other shows, bloggers and writers the day after. David Letterman became the butt of the late night jokes. Obviously, "it is chilly outside and inside" his home. His wife may be furious over these revelations. She may not know Dave very well.

Robert Joe Halderman could argue that he was trying to secure his mate as Ms. Birkitt had asked him to start having children with her. He wanted to make sure that the offspring would be his. Just like the tigers, monkeys and other primates in the jungle of Africa and in the Amazonian Rainforest, the mate who is living with the female wants to make sure she carries his offspring. This arrangement may not be mutual as Birkitt agreed to see multimillionaire Dave on the side......
